Gerhard Cernek - Producer, Composer, Arranger
Gerhard Cernek was born in Wr. Neustadt (Austria) and received his first trumpet lessons at the age of 10. By the age of 16 he was not only performing nationally with various bands and orchestras, but also teaching at several local music schools around Vienna. In 1989 he founded an ensemble (Swing Company) which started out as a high school band, but soon turned rapidly into a professionally renowned Big Band, accompanying international vocalists and instrumentalists.
In 1997 he received a full scholarship from UC Irvine and moved to Los Angeles, California. After finishing his MFA he toured several times with various musical acts through the United States. In 2000 he returned to UC Irvine in order to teach for a government founded outreach program, ArtsBridge. In 2001 he started to work on cruise ships, which triggered his passion for video productions, focusing on underwater filming. |
