Fiji

Although we have traveled and produced in many parts of this globe, there's no doubt that working in Kadavu, Fiji has been one of our most remarkable experiences. Even before we unpacked our equipment, we encountered Fijian hospitality that made us feel like we were coming home.

We will post all the official and inside information as soon as our producing schedule allows. For now, sit back and enjoy some of the footage we took on the fourth largest island of Fiji's archipelago, called Kadavu.

The ancient chain of respect for their chief and for their tribal traditions have not been broken on Kadavu.  To share a bowl of Kava, which is prepared from the crushed root of a native pepper plant, was a drinking ritual that dates back to ancient times, before westerners arrived in Fiji. This act symbolized the acceptance of the visitor’s presence and was the chief’s promise to protect the guest from harm.

If you're looking for a 5 Star luxury hotel with the “all you can eat American food buffet”, why bother going to Fiji? Most resorts accommodate their guest in bures (huts), perfect for honeymooners but still big enough to house an entire family (just in case you do decide not to leave the island anymore). Most bures are artfully decorated with native art, featuring ceiling fans, full and queen sized beds, large private bathrooms and hot showers flowing with natural spring water.

The culinary highlight of every vacation is without a doubt a traditional Fijian feast called Lovo.  Meat, seafood and vegetables are marinated and wrapped in banana leaves to be cooked all day in an underground oven, which is heated with hot rocks and lined with palm fronts, similar to the Hawaiian Luau.

Here on Kadavu, village life has remained far more intact than on some of the larger Fijian islands. Traditional Fijian society is based on communal principles derived from village life. Sharing and caring is the creed of this extended family system that allows no one to go hungry or uncared-for.

To experience a first hand look at Fiji’s nature, we recommend a guided hiking tour. Local guides will introduce you to Fiji’s wildlife as well as some astounding wonders of nature, including lush native trees that serve as more than shade.

Fiji is an absolute dream destination for watersport lovers of all sorts. Swimming is a favorite pastime in many safe reef-protected waters. Most resorts offer complimentary kayaks that let you find those uninhabited islands you've been dreaming of. Snorklers and scuba divers will find plenty of dive sites to duck their head under water. Let us take you to the only sunken ship on Kadavu and follow us on a night dive in order to shine light on creatures' behaviour, rearly found before dusk.

Please bookmark this site, as we will give you more detailed information on dive sites, dive operators and marin life. back to top
